Do you want to know what I see when I look at my desk? A lot of PAPER! Did you know that according to Reduce.org the average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper per year! Sheesh! I find it very stabilizing when we can follow a paper trail for all the orders booked at MOE from start to finish. However, we are possibly…eventually… going PAPERLESS and one of our biggest concerns is; can our office truly be successful paperless? It’s a very big task; to remove all paper from an office would mean no printed reports, no work sheets, and no records. All these things must be moved to a digital format. So here are some questions that we as a company must ask before making this huge change.

What benefits can a paperless office bring?
Obviously it would be eco-friendly to go “Green”. But we also find that in the long run we will be saving a good bit of money. Printing is expensive, paper and toner all add up not to mention the space you use to store all your printed documents – office space is expensive.

What are the pitfalls of paperless?
Technology will obviously play a big part in any paperless office and there are definitely initial costs with setting up our new custom system that will launch this process. Customers with old ways may have a difficult time adjusting when experiencing our new system. It will be an ongoing task, and often something that needs regular monitoring and training for our employees. System downtime or even system failures can lead to you losing all your documents. We will have to come up with backups and even backups of the backups. Same with our day to day computer network and the files we store there. MOE’s secret weapon (IT department) will be doing very regular backups to save us in case the worst happens.

What can we say about the industry of paperless offices now?
Even though the idea of going paperless has been around for a while now there are very few completely paper-free office environments today. Source: Paper usage in offices since the year 2000 has decreased by just 1% per year according to the National Association of Paper Merchants, not very dramatic and possibly a measure of just how few offices achieve the holy grail of ‘paperless’.

So while Moving Office Equipment will probably never be completely paperless, we will definitely try to be successful at pulling back a little to save some trees while saving some money.

Moving Office Equipment Drug Free Workplace


Last year was Moving Office Equipment's first year being certified as a Drug-Free Workplace, awarded by the States Board of Workers Compensation. Although we needed to come up with a plan of action and a brand new Substance Abuse Policy. This is a subject we take very seriously and continue to enforce the rules and regulations of the policy. Not only did we need to have clarification in the policy on testing requirements, reasonable suspicion actions, post-accident testing, post rehabilitation testing, and routine testing. We also needed to brainstorm and strategize on how to train, enforce, and follow through with the policy. Having done all of this, Moving Office Equipment enforces and stands by our policy 100 percent. Moving Office Equipment is committed to protecting the safety, health and well-being of all employees and individuals in our workplace. We recognize that alcohol abuse and drug use pose a significant threat to our goals. We have established a drug free workplace program that balances our respect for individuals with the needs to maintain an alcohol and drug free environment.

Over the next few months, MOE is going to Spotlight our Employees, whether it be Drivers or our Administrative Staff. This month we are spotlighting Ed Turner, who is an exceptional driver and is always supporting #MOELife. Sooo, pump your breaks and enjoy this month’s spotlight!

Ed is 45 years old, he is married to Christi and has 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. Ed has worked for MOE for 6 years, he was introduced to truck driving by a friend who worked for MOE. When Ed is not on the road, he puts his family first and likes to ride his motorcycle, he is also an Auburn fan and can’t wait for football season this year. We asked Ed what keeps him going on the road; he stated his family and also 5 hour energy shots, while not the most traditional, it is very effective. A few challenges Ed faces on the road would include, swinging #MOELife vs. home life. Ed stated it can be difficult with being away from home but working for MOE and our family atmosphere helps him stay focused. We asked Ed to give us a quote that describes truck driving; he stated “What Happens on the Road, Stays on the Road,” while he doesn’t necessarily follow that motto, somethings are better kept on the road like, trucker slang, truck stop restrooms, and gas station food!

Ed, you are an outstanding driver and we appreciate all of the commitment you have put into MOE throughout the years. We know it’s not always easy being on the road but you set a great example and are an excellent reflection of MOE. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication!

In all my studies of customer service behavior and how one should conduct themselves when in the customer service field, there is always one thing that will be in every report, blog, study, analysis, and teaching…KNOW YOUR PRODUCT. When you have knowledge, good training, and exceptional communication skills there will be nothing standing in your way of excellence. If you are passionate about the service you provide and/or the products you represent, well, you then have the recipe for success! Remember, according to American Express, customers are two times more likely to talk about a bad experience to their friends than they are to talk about a good one! Staying on top of your game is the key. “I don’t know” is not an answer…at least here at Moving Office Equipment it is not, according to CFO/VP Garrett Glass. After a while we (his staff) would get tired of hearing him tell us that, but in all actuality it’s the truth. When a representative doesn’t know an answer to a customer’s question we are left with a confused and upset customer who probably left the conversation thinking we were inadequate. Knowledge of how our process works is essential for our growth. Rewarding givers and screening out takers…it’s pretty much a no brainer.

Finding the right company to ship your off-lease copier or transport a copier from one office to another can be difficult. For instance, copier wheels are designed for moving the copier around office space and not usually for transport and heavy pushing on and off of a truck. In that sense when choosing the right company to move your copier you must ask the following questions to ensure your shipment will be handled the correct way with professionals who specialize in that specific area…copier transport!


This simple check list will help you choose the best company available to move or ship your copier.

        1.Are lift gates available on all trucks?
        2.Is the shipper accredited with anyone? BBB, BTA, etc.
        3.Are there any websites giving reviews of the company?
        4.Does the shipper provide blanket wrap service to protect my copier when on the truck?
        5.What methods are used to secure the copier once it’s on the truck?
        6.Does the company provide custom tracking where I can easily access the status on my shipment?
        7.Can I easily get ahold of my representative in case I have any questions?
        8.Will the carrier insure my shipment? If so, how is insurance value determined?
        9.Will they driver provide a detailed spreadsheet when picking up and delivering my copier, noting the conditions at both locations?

If your shipper can answer all of the above questions with knowledge, confidence, and good reputation back up then you can be assured that your selected shipper has the skills to ensure a safe copier transport!
